JetLite, the erstwhile Air Sahara, got its new name after Jet Airways India Ltd. acquired it in April 2007. Presently the airline is a completely owned subsidiary of Jet Airways India Ltd. and is billed as a Value Based Airline, which offers maximum possible value for what one pays by way of airfares. For instance, cheap tickets, 'JetShoppe' in-flight shopping, and in flight meals are just some of the features amongst many others that add more value to the airline's tickets. This economy carrier is based at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi and has secondary hubs at Chennai and Mumbai airports.
Destinations Served
JetLite operates some 110 flights every day connecting 30 important destinations throughout India. In addition, the airline also serves Colombo and Kathmandu. The domestic destinations covered are Agartala, Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Aurangabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Dibrugarh, Goa, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Indore, Jammu, Jorhat, Kochi, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Port Blair, Pune, Raipur, Rajkot, Srinagar, Udaipur, and Vadodara. The airline also offers chartered helicopter services.
Fleet Information
JetLite has a fleet strength of 18 Boeing 737 series aircrafts and 1 Canadian Regional Jet 200 Series aircraft, which makes its total fleet strength 19. In the Boeing series, the airliner owns 9 B737-700s, 5 B737-800s, and 4 B737-800Ws.
Baggage Information
As per the regulations laid down by the Government of India, JetLite allows its passengers to carry a single piece of hand baggage not exceeding 115 cm in linear dimensions (L+B+H). Passengers flying aboard the Boeing 737 aircrafts need to ensure that the dimensions of their cabin baggage do not cross 55 cms in length, 35 cms in breadth, and 25 cms in height. Similarly, the cabin baggage dimensions for the CRJ aircraft are 10 cms in length, 20 cms in breadth, and 34 cms in height. Besides one piece of hand baggage, travellers may also carry a laptop. However, hand baggage facility is not available for travellers flying from Jammu and Srinagar.
