On the appeal of Malayalee expatriate communities residing in Middle East, Air India was established in May 2004 with a motive to serve low budget passengers. The airline belongs to Air India Charters Limited, a subsidiary of Air India Limited, which was formed to facilitate the flawless merger of Air India and Indian Airlines.
