The flag carrier airline of the United Kingdom, British Airways (BA) the largest airline based on fleet size, international flights and international destinations. When measured by passengers carried it is the second-largest, behind easyJet. The airline is based in Waterside near its main hub at London Heathrow Airport. The other hub of British Airways is Gatwick Airport. A British Airways Board was established by the United Kingdom government in the year 1972 to manage the two nationalized airline corporations, (British Overseas Airways Corporation and British European Airways) and two smaller regional airlines, (Cambrian Airways, from Cardiff, and Northeast Airlines, from Newcastle upon Tyne). On 31 March 1974, all four companies were merged to form the “British Airways”.

 

British Airways is known to be the founding member of the Oneworld airline alliance, along with Cathay Pacific, American Airlines, Qantas, and the now non-operational Canadian Airlines. This alliance has since grown to become the third-largest, after SkyTeam and Star Alliance. On 21 January 2011, British Airways merged with Iberia to formally create the International Airlines Group (IAG), the world's third-largest airline group in terms of annual revenue and the second-largest in Europe. The airline has a fleet size of 283 aircrafts which operates flights to over 180 destinations. The subsediaries of British Airways are, BA CityFlyer, OpenSkies, British Airways Limited and British Airways World Cargo. Formally known as British Airways Plc offers frequent-flyer program called "Executive Club" which provides special benefits to the passenger of the club.

According to the baggage allowance rules of the British Airways, the cabin luggage should include one main piece of hand luggage and one personal item (such as laptop, purse etc.). The main piece of cabin luggage can weigh up to 23 Kg (with maximum dimensions 56 x 45 x 25 cm, including handles, pockets, and wheels). Bag gauges are provided at check-in counter where you can measure your cabin luggage and its dimensions. One piece of personal hand luggage (handbag or laptop) must be fit under the seat in front of you and should have the maximum dimensions up to 45 x 36 x 20 cm. If the passenger is traveling with an infant (under the age of 2), he / she is allowed to carry one bag per infant. While checking-in for the flight, the liquid encompasses a broader meaning than you might first think for instance, lipsticks, hand creams and deodorants are considered liquids. The liquid container should not be larger than 100 ml. Passengers are not allowed to carry larger containers even if they are empty. These liquid containers should be stored in a 1 liter size transparent plastic bag (with 20 X 20 cm dimensions) and shown during the security check at the airport. In case of checked-in luggage, the number of checked items and weight depends upon the class of travel, however all the baggage must have the maximum dimensions of (90 x 75 x 43 cm). For First Club World Biz Bed (Business class) up to 3 bags at 32 kg each (no heavy bag charge will be applied), for Club Europe (Business class) up to 2 bags at 32 kg each (no heavy bag charge will be applied), for World Traveler Plus (Premium Economy Class) up to 2 bags at 23 kg each, World Traveler Y Class (full-fare Economy Class) up to 2 bags at 23 kg each, World Traveler Euro Traveler Domestic Eco (Economy Class) only 1 bag of 23 Kg will be allowed. It should be noted that the mentioned baggage allowance are applicable to all flights except to/from Brazil, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, Sierra Leone and connections between India and USA/Bermuda/Canada.

British Airways have introduced various modes to check-in for your flight. You can check-in through online mode which opens 24hours before the flight departure time. Another way of checking-in for the flight is through mobile. One can check-in from 24 hours prior the flight departs using the official app of British airways or ba2go.com. Download and store your boarding pass on your mobile phone. At the airport, you can use designated airport kiosks to check-in and print your boarding pass.  For personal assistance, passengers can check in at the check-in desk. In addition, with hand baggage only and your boarding pass, you can go straight through security.
