Established in early 2006 by Rakesh S Gangwal, a United States-based NRI and Rahul Bhatia from InterGlobe Enterprises, IndiGo Airlines is the greatest emerging low cost carriers across the world. The airline entered in Indian aviation market after entering of all other big players and in 6 years of its existence, it managed to bag the major market share. As of April 2014, the airline has market share of 31.6%. IndiGo started its first operations on 4th August 2006 by serving from New Delhi to Imphal through Guwahati. Baggage

Baggage Allowance

The baggage allowance rule of the IndiGo Airlines allows the passengers carrying free checked bags of weight 15kgs for domestic flights per adult/child. Passengers traveling on international sectors are allowed to carry a baggage of weight limit 20kgs. For traveling from and to Muscat and Dubai, the weight limit of baggage allowance is 30kgs. For cabin baggage, weight limit is 7kgs for domestic and international Routss. Excess baggage will be charged Rs. 250 per kg for domestic travel.

IndiGo Airlines takes every measure to make your journey simple and memorable. It offers a wide range of facilities and services that make your journey fun and wonderful. Keeping convenience of the customers in mind, the airline offers online booking and check-in facilities. Since it is a low cost carrier, IndiGo’s flights only have economy class seating arrangement. It doesn’t provide complimentary in-flight meal but passengers can buy from selection of food and beverages, including vegetarian and non-vegetarian snacks and healthy juices. The airline also allows carrying your own snacks on-board but it should not be oily and stinking. One can also buy several duty-free products on-board while traveling with IndiGo Airlines.

Check-In

Customers traveling with IndiGo Airlines can check-in at the airport counters 2 hours before the scheduled departure of the flight. Check-in counter closes 45 minutes before the departure of the domestic flights and boarding gates close 30 minutes prior to the departure. Customers may also check-in online through web or mobile from 48 hours to 2 hours prior to scheduled departure of the flight. The web check-in facility is only allowed for passengers having hand baggage with them. Customer check-in counter for international sector opens 4 hours ahead of, and closes 75 minutes before the scheduled departure and boarding gates close 45 minutes prior to departure.
