Founded in 1962 as Korean Air Lines by the South Korean government, Korean Air replaced Korean National Airlines. On 1st March 1969, the control of the airline was taken by Hanjin Transport Group. On 1st March 1984, the airline's name was changed from Korean Air Lines to Korean Air and a new corporate logo of Korean Air was introduced. At present, Korean Air is the flag carrier and the largest airline of South Korea.
Its headquarters are located in Gonghang-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, South Korea. It is supposed to be the top 20 airlines of the world as per its passenger traffic and also ranked top in international cargo airline. The hubs of the airline are Seoul Incheon International Airport and Seoul Gimpo International Airport. Korean Air was voted as Asia's best airline by Business Traveler readers in 2012

Baggage allowance in Korean Air flights varies as per the cabin class. Passengers traveling in First class & Prestige class of Korean Air international flights are allowed to carry 2 pieces of checked baggage of 32 kg each in weight & 62 inches in dimension and Economy Class passengers can carry two pieces of checked baggage of 23 kg each. Infants under 2 years are allowed for a baggage of 10 kg. For Korean domestic flights, baggage allowance for Prestige class is 30 kg and Economy class is 20 kg. Carry-on baggage allowance for Prestige & Business Class is 18 kg and Economy class is 12 kg.
