Safi Airways started its operations on 15th June 2009 by traveling between Kabul and Frankfurt. The service was suspended on 24th November 2010 because of banning all Afghan carriers from flying to Europe. It is an Afghan airline that was founded by Abdul Rahim Safi, an Afghan businessman in 2006. He is currently CEO of the airline.
It is the first privately owned airline in Afghanistan that has its headquarters in Shahr-e-Naw, Kabul, Afghanistan. The administrative office of the airline is at Dubai Airport Free Zone.

Safi Airways has a fleet 5 aircrafts and through which, it serves to 7 destinations. In Afghanistan, it serves to Herat, Kabul and Mazar. It flies to Delhi in India, Islamabad in Pakistan, and Dubai in United Arab Emirates. There are plans to open other branches at various locations.
Checked baggage allowance in Safi Airways depends on the cabin class and Routs. Business Class passengers of domestic Routss can carry 30 kg as their checked baggage and Economy Class passengers can carry 20 kg. Business class passengers of international Routss can carry 40 kg weight as checked baggage and Economy class passengers can carry 30 kg weight. Cabin baggage allowance is limited to 7 kg for each adult and 10 kg for each infant.
