In 1972, Malaysia-Singapore Airlines (MSA) divided and became two new entities – Singapore Airlines and Malaysian Airline System. The complete decade was dedicated on growth and consolidation of Singapore Airlines. A subsidiary company called Singapore Airport Terminal Services (SATS) was started to provide more proficient ground services at Paya Lebar Airport. After two years, the corporate office of Singapore Airlines was opened in Airline House, at the Changi Airfreight Centre.

Baggage Allowance

Baggage allowance weight limit in Singapore Airlines varies as per the cabin class and the destination you are traveling. Checked baggage for most of the destinations except US & Brazil are same. In Suites and First Class, checked baggage should not exceed to 50 kg. For Business Class passengers, checked baggage allowance is 40 kg and for Economy Class passengers, baggage allowance is 30 kg. Each passenger is also allowed to carry some cabin baggage. In Suites, First and Business Class, they can 2 pieces of baggage of 7 kg each as carry-on baggage and in Economy Class, 1 piece luggage of 7 kg is allowed.

Online check-in facility is available for passengers with confirmed bookings from 48 to 2 hours prior to the departure of the flight. For check-in at airport, counters open at 4:30 and close at 14:00. You may check-in between 48 hours and 40 minutes prior to scheduled departure of the flight.
