Yemenia sees its origin back to the foundation of Yemen Airways in the 2nd half of 1940s. On 4th August 1962, Yemen Airlines was issued a new airline license and became the flag carrier of Yemen. The country has its head office in the Ministry of Communication Building in Sana'a. In 1967, the airline entered into collaboration with United Arab Airlines and it lasted till 1972. All through the period, the airline was known as Yemen Arab Airlines.
