About Coimbatore Airport: Coimbatore International Airport is an international airport serving to the city of Coimbatore in South India. Situated 13 km away from the heart of the city at Peelamedu, the airport started its operations with Indian Airlines in 1940 as a civil aerodrome. The airport was earlier recognized as Coimbatore Civil Aerodrome. It is the 18th largest airport in India in terms of total passenger handling and 13th largest airport in terms of cargo handled. The airport has two terminals – terminal 1 is for both the domestic and international operations and terminal 2 is mainly cargo terminal.
