Kila Raipur Sports Fair / Rural Olympics:
Kila Raipur Sports Festival, popularly known as the Rural Olympics is held annually in
Kila Raipur, a village near Ludhiana in Punjab India. This festival is organized during the
month of February annually. During this time, this place is flock by sports enthusiasts,
including foreigners. They come to Kila Raipur to see the special breed of bullocks,
camels, dogs, mules and other animals competing in competitive events.
Three types of competitions are held during rural meets, Purely rural games (Kabaddi,
Weight-lifting, Wrestling etc., Modern sports (like hockey, athletics, football, cycling,
volleyball, handball etc.) and Performing sports (like twisting an iron-rod by placing it
on Adam's apple, acrobatics, cracking a big stone by placing it on the chest, passing
tractor over the rib-ease etc.).
Villagers are not just fond of their own competitions they also like to size-up the skill and
power of their animals like horses, bulls, dogs on the sports ground. Bullockcart racing
has become a passion in Punjab. Because of a ban on hunting, hound-races are held
in Punjab by hanging a bait of fake hare before them. At places, pigeon fights and cock-
fights are contested.

Tirinjen, Kikli, Gheeta Pathar, Kokla Chhapaki, Chicho Chich Ganerian, Lukan Miti (hide
and seek), Kidi Kada or Stapoo, Ghaggar Phissi, Kabbadi, Rasa Kashi (tug of war),
Akharas, Martial art, Kite Flying (Patang Bazi), Guli Danda (Lippa) and much more.
