The Sariska tiger reserve / National Park is majorly known for its exotic wildlife. The rich

Dating back to the time of the Mughals, Kankwari Fort is the only massive fort in

Gujjar villages around it. According to historical records, Aurangzeb imprisoned the
eldest son of Shahjahan, his elder brother, Prince Dara Shikoh in this fort.
This palace was built by Maharaja Jai Singh of Alwar to serve as His lodge during their
hunting trips. Some of the main attractions of the palace consist of extensive lawns,
photographs of the 1920's Royal Shikar (hunting trips) and beautiful antique furniture.

Ancient Shiva Temple:
The sanctuary also houses an ancient Shiva temple. The temple is dedicated to
Neelkanth (Lord Shiva) and dates back to the 6th-13th century AD.
It is a temple devoted to Lord Hanuman and has a legend attached to it. It is believed
that at the time of their exile, Bhima, a Pandava brother, took refuge here. The temple
offers a spectacular view of the of the Pandu gate, where a flowing spring can be seen
surfacing from hard and compact rocks.
