These are historical monuments were constructed by King Rudra Singha during 1696-
1714 AD was the military station of the Ahom Kings. Kareng Ghar is a seven storied

storeys known as 'Kareng Ghar'.
Gargaon, the previous capital of the Ahoms lies 13 KM east of Sibsagar. This old palace
constructed in 1540 was destroyed, and the present seven-storeyed palace, known
as 'Kareng Ghar', was rebuilt about 1762, by King Rajeshwar Singha.
It is an amphitheatre that was constructed by King Pramatta Singha. The two storeyed
oval shaped in pavilion is one of the largest of its type.
Another old capital of the Ahom kings, Charaideo was constructed by the founder of the
Ahom dynasty, 'Sukapha' and located 28 KM east of Sibsagar. This place is popular for
burial vaults or the 'maidans' of the members of the royalty.
