After excavation, it has been confirmed that this Stupa enshrined 1/8th of the holy ashes
of Lord Buddha in a stone casket.
To demonstrate his gratitude to Lord Buddha and Buddhism, King Ashoka built a Lion
Pillar at Kolhua – a place where Buddha gave his last sermon. This is an 18.3 meter
high pillar, which is well polished and has a life-size figure of a lion on the top.
This stupa was discovered in the year 1958 through excavation. Archeologists
concluded about this stupa that it is also having a casket containing the ashes of the
Lord Buddha. The pillar is also visited by a number of tourists.
Bawan Pokhar Temple:
It is a beautiful Hindu temple built by the later kings of Pal dynasty. The temple has
numerous idols of Hindu god and goddesses. Being situated on the bank of Bawan
Pond, the temple has got its name.
World Peace Pagoda:
Spread over 10 acres of land, World Peace Pagoda was constructed as per the wish
of Fujii Guruji - a Japanese Buddhist. This is a 38 meters tall pagoda, which has a 20
meters dome and enshrines Buddhist relics. It is one of the most popular attractions of
